Ok, now that I have the business up and running comes the hard part, finding a way to attract quality clients and get them in the proverbial doors of my site and purchasing hosting and domain names. I know this is going to be a long haul, and I am one that likes to be able to see results right away, but this is going to take time and patience, both of which are skills i just recently acquired and am still learning to use =). I am going to dinner with Jon and his dad to talk about small business items . His dad is a inspiration, he owns a rental unit, owns his own successful small business and is overall someone I look up to and respect.
Also in the market for other small business ideas, due to my schedule a second job is hard to do unless I can work strange hours but since i make enough at the primary job, leaving it isnt an option right now, it pays for everything else. So if anyone has any ideas, im all ears =)

Wow, wont go into details but if your boss asks you to do something, and instead of doing it in the hour it should take you take 6 hours and spend your time cutting up napkins and leaning on a counter, dont be supprised if he gets mad at you and wants to send you home for not working or listening.

Was a busy day, got to work, ran the store till about 9, sat down with my boss for an hour at 9-10, then counted cash, jumping from cash into making a large order and delivering it to a middle school in racine then back in time to work some lunch for a bus. After that spent some time with a fellow manager discussing some upcoming changes in the stores structure etc then home to work on the web stuff.
Got a 3″ tall lettering window cling, orange letters that say TheGeekHosting.com to draw attention to it and hopefully get enough people to see it to come check out the site.
tired so ill post more later, just trying to keep atleast 1 post a day going
wow my roommate is driving me nuts,, but aside from that.the server is up and running smooth, my 7th website is signing up tommorow and things are going well. My roommate might move to chicago so that means in the near future i need to start looking for roommates. I could cover the entire place myself but id be nice to have 1 good roommate and cut my rent in half.
Work - on the plus side my pay raise at work was better than i expected, i got almost 800+ dollars a year more than i was expecting so that means my checks are going up a tad more, which is a nice supprise. Hopefully we can start bonusing out soon so i can raise that up, last year i got almost 6k of bonus money,, after taxes i see about 3k of that, but thats still 3k extra a year income.
Well day 2 of blogging. Well start off with the day job.
Spent what seemed like 12 hours at work today. Was a steady day with alot of dumb questions and even dumber people. People expect so much from some companies where when they go to other companies they would accept half the service, half the quality, for double the price. Started mentoring a new manager trainee and think the person is going to do really well. They have a good head on thier shoulders and they know the business well already. Have a few other people im working with and hope that this turns out to be a good crop so that the store and the area can benefit and continue to be top ranked in the areas rankings.
Server side- starting to get more interest in the blog site here, as well as our first hosting client. Since the company is locally owned and operated I am looking to market to the small business, individual who wants to get thier first website online and needs more of a local company that they can talk to, see face to face and walk them through thier purchase and what they need to look for. Since there is a huge teacher side to me, i know i could make alot more money than we charge but the fun is in the teaching and bettering others so that they can do for themselves and be able to feel confident in dealing with these types of services and goods.
Going to look at word of mouth and affiliate links as well. With good service and affordable prices the service is hard to beat and if people can get thier service for free or a discount, then so be it. Toying with the pricing and the offers availably at the site launch and how to work people who refer others to our site and they sign up. Always open to suggestions.
